Hardy Plant Society (Middlesex Group)

Middlesex Group

of the Hardy Plant Society

Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Hardy Plant Society, Middlesex Group, one of the local groups of the national Hardy Plant Society.  We are a friendly group - both of experienced gardeners and enthusiastic newcomers - but we all share an interest in hardy, herbaceous, perennials and enjoy discovering more about how to grow and display these beautiful and varied plants in our gardens.

We meet regularly, usually on the first Monday of every month at Field End Junior School, Field End Road, Eastcote. We have a varied Programme of Speakers, as well as plants for sale at our meetings. We also visit gardens, shows, and other places of horticultural interest and we organise three Public Plant Sales each year. You can find out more on the Trips and Plant Sales page.

New members are always assured of a warm welcome, so why not come along and join us?

Eastcote House Gardens Summer Fair and Picnic - Saturday 4th June 2022 11.00 am - 4.00 pm

HPSMG_Stand.jpg

It was so good to be back at Eastcote House Gardens for the first time since COVID 19 events were cancelled. Having braved the morning rain setting up with Brenda, Lynn, Nitty and Philippa ran a hugely successful HPSMG plant stall, talking to lots of people about our local HPSMG meetings and events and selling Nitty’s wonderful plants - at what turned out to be a gloriously sunny day with lots of picnics.

Our stand was next to the Prada Rustica stall, which is run by our Group Secretary, Brenda Armstrong-Prada who hand makes unique stone-effect planters, perfect for displaying your hardy plants.

Pinner Village Show - Saturday 14th September 2019 11.30 am - 5 pm

Find HPS Middlesex at the Pinner Village Show selling a wide range of unusual - and not so unusual plants - at very reasonable prices. The Show is a community event organised by the Rotary Club of Pinner and offers a range of stalls and entertainment. It takes place in Pinner Memorial Park, Chapel Lane, Pinner HA5 1BA.

This will be the last chance to buy plants before next year's plant sales, so if you're looking for new plants for the garden, do go along. You can also find out more about us and what we offer.

Chenies Manor Plant Fair - Sunday 14th July 2019

We were invited to have a stand at this year’s Plant and Garden Fair at the Manor House, Chenies and, after the initial planning stage, selected the plants we needed from our sponsor Farnham Common Nurseries. The planting was kept light and airy with tall Salvia Black and Blue, Deschampsia Golden Dew and a beautiful Foxglove Digitalis Spice Island all surrounding Hydrangea Annabelle and infilling of Lavenders, Scabiosa, Shasta Daisies and bronze Carex. We promoted the Society, offered advice and encouragement to people, many of whom bought our seeds and cards.

Eastcote House Gardens Summer Picnic - Saturday 8th June 2019

We also took part in the Eastcote House Gardens Summer Picnic on Saturday June 8th. Although the day was rather blustery to begin with, the sun came out and we had a good day, talking to lots of people about our Group and the Hardy Plant Society, handing out seed and selling lots of plants. We had a lot of interest in what we do and it was a very enjoyable day.

Our stand was next to Prada Rustica, which produces unusual stone planters and which is run by our Group Secretary. The planters are perfect for displaying your hardy plants.
