Who We Are
The Hardy Plant Society Middlesex Group is a friendly, enthusiastic group of experienced and less experienced gardeners, who all share an interest in learning more about the many and beautiful varieties of hardy perennials and how to grow them in their gardens. We are all keen to share our knowledge and experience with other members.
The Group meets regularly to hear speakers on a wide range of topics and we also enjoy a varied programme of trips and visits to gardens, RHS shows and places of horticultural interest. We run regular plant sales both for our Members and the General Public.
We have over 100 members and always welcome new ones. You can find information about how to join us here.
We are part of the national Hardy Plant Society which gives our members access to wider range of benefits and expertise.
HPSMG Committee 2018
The HPSMG Committee is elected annually at the Annual General Meeting in March.
Lynn has a great passion for nature, plants and wildlife and is involved with a number of local horticultural societies, including running a Hillingdon U3A garden group. She won best display including best novelty display in Hillingdon in Bloom 2017 and is keen to plant hardy perennials for their variety and colour.
Lorraine joined the Committee in 2018 and helped to deliver to Passionate About Plants. She is responsible for publicity, including our newsletter, website and Facebook Page. She is keen to learn all she can about hardy plants so that she can put this to good use in her own garden.
Maggie was a horticultural lecturer so has lots of experience and knowledge to bring to the Group. Maggie is a welcome face for members new and established and is now coming to the end of her time on the Committee after many years’ service to the Group.
Marcelle recently returned to the role of Secretary after a number of years. Marcelle manages Committee business and keeps us all up to the minute with information, as well as liaising with the national HPS. She is active in several other gardening and environmental societies and will be standing down at the next AGM, after serving her term.
Angela has much experience with hardy plants - she ran a small nursery in Norfolk for many years and now supports the group by selling plants at the public plant sales held in Ruislip. Angela is also standing down next year to spend more time travelling.
