Hardy Plant Society (Middlesex Group)

Plant Sales

Plant SalesWe hold Plant Sales at every evening meeting, except December, for our members and many of our guest speakers also bring plants along for sale.

Plant Sales at Evening Meetings

Members can bring along plants for sale at the evening meetings . These are either donated to be sold for HPS Middlesex Group funds or sold on behalf of the grower with a 10% commission to the Group.

The seller decides the price. Plants should be presented in clean pots, labelled with the plant name, some description of the plant and its cultivation. They can be any pot size from 3 inches up to 5 litres. Each label must be marked with price in multiples of 50p together with member’s initials. At any meeting, no more than 12 plants can be brought for sale by each member.

Members will also need to complete an invoice with the list of plants they are bringing for sales and their prices.

The form is available for download here

If the plant is not donated, then the selling price, less 10%, will usually be paid to the seller at the next meeting. Any unsold plants should be collected at the end of the meeting.

Public Plant Sales

HPSMG also holds three Public Plant Sales a year where we offer a wide selection of unusual, quality plants at very reasonable prices. The Sales are very popular so do get there early.

The dates for 2019 are:

  • Saturday 20th April 10am – 1pm
  • Saturday 11th May 10am – 1pm
  • Saturday 8th June 10am – 1pm

All the Sales take place in the Community Hut, St. Martin’s Car Park, Ruislip HA4 8BD.

If you have plants you would like to sell, members and non members can hire a table at the Sales. We have seven available and these are allocated on a first come first served basis. We charge for £5 a table plus 10% of sales.

There is no limit on the number of plants you can sell. You just need to decide the selling price of your plants. It’s up to you whether you label the plants or not.
